Gyanidhi, the Faculty Research Cell, CMS, JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), organized a national level Management Development Program titled, 'The Next Phase of Business & Environmental Sustainability’ on March 26, 2021. The renowned speakers for the program included Mr. Niranjan Khatri, Founder - iSambhav, Mr. Padu S. Padmanaban, Former Director and Senior Energy Advisor, South Asia Regional Energy Program – USAID, Mr. Anup Naik, Founder, and Director - Space Matrix Architects & Planners and Urban Frame Pvt Ltd.

The speakers conferred their views on how in the last few decades the world has alleviated poverty, improved education and healthcare sectors, curbed unemployment, and exhibited technological excellence as a result of rapid growth in businesses. It brought to light that the world faces a potential threat of climate change, overpopulation, and water scarcity, leading the planet towards the brink of severe environmental crises. The MDP highlighted that in recent years there has been a global shift towards more environmentally sustainable ways of working, and the world's biggest companies are actively disclosing their greenhouse gas emissions and other energy metrics; also being judged on them by consumers. To avert the worst-case climate scenarios, countries around the globe have committed to reaching carbon net-zero by 2050. Thus, the MDP envisioned instilling an awareness of development without compromising the future of our environment that is achievable by judiciously exploiting the available resources towards business advancement. The prime highlight of the MDP was every speaker offering valuable information on how to keep the environment clean and follow a sustainable lifestyle.

Gyanidhi organized its 24th - Webinar on February 23, 2021, on the topic " An overview of Union Budget 2021". The session was organized primarily for the students of the Center for Management Studies, JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), to understand the various aspects of the Union Budget-2021 and the plan of the government to mend the disruptive economy due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The session was addressed by Shri-Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Member of Parliament and the National Spokesperson of BJP. The speaker shared his profound knowledge on how the budget is focussed towards the recovery of an ailing economy and threw light on the measures and policies the Government has undertaken to revive the economic growth of the country, and the facilitated expenses on productive assets, infrastructure, and labor.

The speaker emphasized that the budget focussed on "Aatma Nirbhar Bharat" and economic self-reliance to make the country capable to confer the global standard of product and services. The session received an overwhelming response and the students interacted with the speaker extensively, clarifying their doubts and enriching their understanding about the contemporary government proceedings in rejuvenating and reconstructing the economy of the country post-pandemic.

Overall, the discussion on Union Budget turned out to be an extremely engaging session for the students and the faculty members with an insightful learning experience.

The 23rd session, in continuation with the 22nd session, of the Gyanidhi webinar series was held on February 19th, 2021. It was addressed by Ms. Himanshi Singh, an arduous researcher and an alumnus of IIT Kanpur. Singh apprised the participants of various aspects of Academic writing, as to how it addresses complex issues that require higher-order thinking skills to understand the research problem, including cognitive processes that are used to comprehend, solve problems, and express concepts or describe abstract ideas that cannot be easily acted out, pointed to or shown with images. She referred to one of the main functions of academic writing - examining and explaining the significance of complex ideas as clearly as possible and how as a writer, one must adopt the skill of summarizing a lot of complex information into a well-organized synthesis of ideas, concepts, and recommendations that contribute to a better understanding of the research problem.

The 22nd session of the Gyanidhi webinar series was held on February 18th 2021, addressed by Ms. Himanshi Singh – Representative of team Ennoble IP as Senior Patent and Research Associate, alumnus of IIT Kanpur and an avid researcher.

Ms. Singh spoke about the importance of Academic Writing and how researchers use it to define the intellectual boundaries of their disciplines and specific areas of expertise. She also threw light on the characteristics of academic writing including a formal tone, use of the third-person rather than first-person perspective, a clear focus on the research problem under investigation, and precise word choice. She emphasized on how academic writing is designed to convey agreed meaning about complex ideas or concepts for a group of scholarly experts.

Gyanidhi organized 5 Day National Level FDP on the topic " Rudiments of Finance: Teaching and Research Perspective " from 2nd to 6th November 2020. The sessions were addressed by Mr. Ayush Bansal, Founder of iDream Career, Prof. Priya Angle, Professor of Finance, CMS Business School, Dr. Jyothi Kumari, Assistant Professor, CMS Business School, and Dr. Firdaus Khan M.R, Adjunct Professor, CMS Business School. The speakers shared their views on specific domains and imparted an elaborate understanding of the same. All the speakers made this session a great knowledge sharing experience, and the sessions proved to be extremely engaging. The session reached out to participants across all the corners of academics.

Indian Economy during Unprecedented Times and Way Forward

The nineteenth session of the series was held on 12th October 2020 by Dr. Sandeep Shastri, Pro Vice Chancellor, JAIN (Deemed-to-be University). Being a political scientist and intellectual, he conferred his views on the transitional phase of the Indian economy presenting various measures taken by the government including policy changes, reforms, relief packages, bank loans, and many more. He stated that the Indian economy will take time to adjust to the new normal considering the heterogeneity of the problem every sector is facing. He opined that we have to keep moving forward but also need to be patient as any step taken in haste might not give us the expected result due to uncertainty prevailing in the economy. Therefore, currently, the focus should be on sustaining this crisis.

Two-day National Faculty Development Program

A two-day FDP webinar was organized on the 24th and 25th of August 2020 on the topic of Data Analysis using SPSS, AMOS, and R. The event witnessed more than 1400 registrations and proved to be a great learning experience to the participants.

The focus of the FDP was to improve the research capabilities of the researchers and the teaching faculty.

Day-1: Dr. Varsha Agarwal shared her knowledge of Data Analysis Software- SPSS & AMOS and its application in Social Science Research. She spoke extensively about the usage of SPSS and AMOS in data analysis and its application in Descriptive and Inferential Statistics.

Day-2: Prof. Srinidhi V R elaborated on the Programming Language R and coding to the participants and explained as to how it can be used as a data analysis tool.

Three-Day International Research Conclave

Gyanidhi organized a "Three-Day International Research Conclave" on 3rd, 4th, and 5th August 2020. The focus of the conclave was to create a learning synergy, which can unbolt innovative paradigms for both, business and research.

Day 1:
Dr.Izwan Nizal Mohd Shaharanee, Deputy Director, University Teaching and Learning Center, University Utara, Malaysia familiarized the participants with the referencing software Mendeley, which is imperative for Social Science researchers.

Day 2:
Dr. Varsha Agarwal, Coordinator- Research Cell & Assistant Professor, CMS JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), enlightened audience with the crucial aspects of identifying, verifying, and publishing in Scopus-indexed journals which is a primary focus of all academicians and researchers in today's time.

Day 3:
Dr. Rajan Gupta, Assistant Professor of Computer Science and Data Science, University of Delhi, educated participants with exemplary details on E-governance and data analytics, its inception, various platforms, and its application which has created an effective change in the life of the citizens.

IQAC Webinar with NAAC Experts

Gyanidhi organized an IQAC Webinar on 19th June 2020 hosted by Prof. Amiya Kumar Rath and Dr. B. S. Ponmudiraj, Advisors – NAAC. The speakers emphasized the significance of Research, explaining its importance in assessing the standards of a University as it fosters professional excellence in faculty and helps in delivering outstanding student education and training.

They also explained about the Accreditation Framework and its various aspects like Data-Driven A & A framework, Validation of data by an external agency, Online Student Satisfaction survey, System selection of peer team members, A & A process complete automation and online submission of application especially during this critical period of COVID.

International Workshop – English Language Teaching: Course Planning Tools for Hybrid Classroom Teaching and Learning.

Gyanidhi organized an International Workshop on 13th July 2020 addressed by Dr. Nick, Professor of English at the University of Rome La Sapienza, Italy, who spoke on the topic, ‘Blended Learning in Teaching English Language and Literature’; Dr. Maureen Shyamala Rajamoney, English Lecturer, Chan Wa National Type Secondary School, Seremban, Malaysia, shared her views on the topic, ‘Current Mode Of Online Teaching’ and Dr. Ania Lian, Professor of English, Charles Darwin University, Darwin, Australia, spoke on the topic, ‘The Challenges of Distance Education in English Language Teaching and Learning: Combating our own Prejudices’. All the three speakers made this Workshop a great knowledge sharing experience, and the session reached out to more than 9000 viewers through various online platforms.

International Panel Discussion – Leading The Way Forward In the Unprecedented Times: With Special Reference To The Global Markets and Economy

Gyanidhi organized second International Panel Discussion on 4th July, 2020 addressed by renowned personalities from different spheres of society – Dr. K. Sudhakar, Minister for Medical Education, Government of Karnataka; Dr. Andy Wu, Professor, Harvard Business School; Dr. Kiran Kumar S Momaya, Professor, IIT Mumbai; Mr. Varun Aaron, Indian Cricketer and last but not the least Dr. Chenraj Roychand, President-Jain Deemed-to-be University. The discussion covered various paradigms such as role of the government in this unprecedented situation to the role and responsibilities of individuals in shaping the future. The speakers had a common consensus on the fact that, though the global pandemic has been tough on the lives of people, yet, it has enabled the leaders to discover more innovative and sustainable ways of lifestyle and business. The session reached out to more than 30000 people from 60 countries across the world.

Gyanidhi Webinar – International Day of Yoga

The seventeenth session of the webinar series was organized by Gyanidhi with the collaborative efforts of the National Service Scheme (NSS) team of CMS and "The Art Of Living" on the occasion of "International Yoga Day" on 21st June 2020. The online yoga session was conducted by Mr. Anand Asrani and Ms. Sowmya Karuvatti.

The session started with a small story on the importance of yoga, followed by simple and easy exercises which can be practiced on daily basis were taught to keep the body and mind stress free. Mr. Anand a specialist in meditation explained the benefits and the different styles of meditation and the method of inhaling and exhaling was explained clearly. A few asanas namely, Badha Konasana or the butterfly pose, Shashankasana or the rabbit pose, and Vriksasana or the tree pose were taught. Each asana had its own significance such as strength and power to the knees, stretch to the upper body, including the spine and postural muscles, which releases pressure on the spinal nerves and improves balance and stability in the leg. The entire session remained engaging and successful in spreading awareness about the importance of yoga for the well being of students.

Current Trends in Media and Communication

The 16th session of the series was held on 20th June 2020 by Dr. Wang Changsong, Associate Professor, Head of Program (Journalism and Advertising), and Founding Director for ASEAN and Chinese screen studies at Xiamen University, Malaysia.

Speaking to the faculty members of media studies, Dr. Wang shed a light on the transition of the media landscape from traditional media to online streaming culture and presented the statistics of annual digital media users in the world while elaborating on the importance of networking during an uncertain situation.

Gyanidhi Webinar – Bhumandalikaran: Samayik Sahitya Antarprabhav evam Roop Parivartan

The fifteenth session of the series was held on 18th June 2020 addressed by Dr. Mohsin Khan – Head of the Department of Hindi, J. S. M. College, Alibagh, Maharashtra. The speaker conferred his views on the entire system, process and prevalence of globalization in the current scenario keeping economic factor at the center. He emphasized on the intricacies of global politics and economy and the need of a global thinking to provide a new economic strength to the world and related this concept to the nations with a passion to become the economic superpowers. He also talked about the process of change in the craft as how narrative literature in form of drama, poetry and fiction etc. are being composed on the lines of changing themes.

The fourteenth session of the webinar series was conducted on 17th June 2020 by Prof. Puja Rohatagi, Additional Head for Humanities & Social Sciences Department, KIET Group of Institutions. The orator addressed the audience regarding the importance of life skills in boosting confidence, motivating oneself, leading to positivity and happiness.

Teaching - An amalgamation of Negotiation, Performance and Struggle for Acceptance

The thirteenth session of the series was held on 16th June 2020 by Prof Shivalingaswamy H K, Chairman of the Department of Studies and Research in English, Tumkur University. The speaker discussed the importance of literature in helping one lead a disciplined life while emphasizing how English, as a field of study, can be a vivifying force for both individual and social liberty.

Impact of COVID-19 on the Indian Stock Markets

The twelfth session of the series was hosted on 13th June 2020 by Mr. Amit Jeswani – Founder & CIO of Stallion Asset Pvt. Limited. The speaker shared an extensive overview of the current markets during and after the global pandemic, the upcoming investment trends, and the inevitable risk associated with the investment. The orator also advised the participants to be knowledgeable about the stock market situation before investing.

Prastuta Sandarbhadalli Rangabhumi Mattu Dharavahi Nele

The eleventh session of the series held on 12th June 2020 was hosted by Mrs. Maadhuri K Shivnagi, an actor, director, producer, and writer from the Kannada theatre industry who apprised the Arts and Mass Communication faculty members about the effects of the pandemic on Kannada television serials and also on how the industry is coping with the crisis.

Managing your Finances and Investment during COVID-19

The tenth session of the series was held on 8th June 2020 by Mr. Glen Roger Carr – Founder and Director of Finmark. Being an ace in the field of investment and financial markets, Carr spoke about the present value of money, giving a vivid idea about the investment areas which could be profitable in the future. He also talked about the benefits of investing in Sukanya Samruddhi - with the percentage rates of 7.4% and advised participants to invest in property as the home loan interest rates are at a record low. He also encouraged participants to invest in SIPs.

Mindfulness for Educators

The ninth session of the series was held on 6th June 2020 and was addressed by Ms. Simran Ahuja, Miss India – 2013. Ms. Ahuja, an International celebrity, anchor, and the recipient of Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Award for anchor par excellence and a doctorate in Nature Cure, rejuvenated the audience by talking about the significance of self-care amidst the chaos. She also emphasized the necessity of setting priorities in life, holistic development of the human body and mind through exercise, yoga, and meditation, and the significance of Let-Go attitude. The session was enriched with an aura of positivity and awareness.

International Panel discussion on COVID-19 Crisis: The Global Economy Reshaping

Gyanidhi organized an International Panel Discussion on 4th June 2020 addressed by Dr. Jim Philips, Dr. Brian Jackson, and Dr. Jon M Shapiro – eminent Professors from North-Eastern State University, Oklahoma – USA. Multifaceted aspects of the economy were incorporated in the discussion starting from the world economy to the current employment conditions in sectors like education, aviation, health, and hospitality.

More than 15000 participants from 30 countries attended the session.

Doctor’s Eyeview on COVID-19

The seventh session of the webinar series was conducted on 3rd June 2020 by Dr. Giridhara Upadhyaya, an eminent Microbiologist in the country, associated with Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) since 1997 and presently rendering his service as in-charge of COVID-19 Molecular Lab. With over 37 years of experience, Dr. Giridhara explained how people should deal with the pandemic, the significance of hygiene, and taking care of mental health during these trying times. He urged the audience to refer only to authorized sites while trying to understand the severity of the pandemic in a state or a city. He also explained about being positive and hopeful, furthermore emphasizing how an adverse situation opens up flourishing avenues for the development of a nation.

Goal Setting that Cannot Fail

The sixth session of the series was held on 1st June 2020 by Mr. Samuel T Varghese - Head of ‘Skillsmen’, a Motivational Speaker, and Life Skills Coach. He conferred his views on ‘Creativity and Innovation’ which can be applied to diverse interests in one’s life. He emphasized the importance of goal setting and the significant role it plays in helping an individual achieve various personal and professional goals. He made the participants understand the difference between "Setting a Goal" and "Making a To-Do List". He also elaborated on the steps of setting and reaching a goal while encountering and overcoming challenges.

Moving Forward Through the Challenges Posed by COVID-19 in the Manufacturing Sector

The fifth session of the series was held on 30th May 2020 by Mr. R.K Mishra, CEO, Naini Aerospace, Prayagraj. His leadership skills were displayed at its best when a company that was closed and abandoned for the last 20 years, commenced production of Aviation looms for ALH and LCA-Tejas and Structures for DHRUV Helicopter within months of taking over. He conveyed the message that the first purpose of any business must be to deliver quality and excellence which will draw the profit by itself and presented valuable insights about the present condition of the manufacturing sector and how the government has planned to back the large, medium and MSMEs financially to make them self-sufficient.

The fourth webinar of the series was conducted on 28th May 2020 by Prof. Seema Gupta from IIM (Indian Institute of Management), Bangalore . In the webinar, she spoke about the impact on marketing and personal brand building strategies due to the Covid-19 situation.

The third session of the series was held on 27th May 2020 by Mr. Sudhir Kant, Executive Director of Forum Synergies and Director of Klorofil SKM Pvt. Ltd, P J Margo Pvt. Ltd, Margo Bio Control Pvt. Ltd. and Bio Instruments India Pvt. Ltd. In the webinar, he covered a wide spectrum of topics including what to expect in a post-COVID world and how it will be "New Normal". The speaker also discussed about various sectors such as health, service, manufacturing to education, and made the audience conscious of the benefits of living a simple life afar from luxuries which people have been compelled to live with the commencement of the lockdown.

Gender Implications of COVID - 19 Pandemic

The second webinar session was hosted on 23rd May by Ms. Konpal Agrawal, an alumnus of IIT Kharagpur and ISB, Hyderabad and currently associated as Strategy Analyst with Accenture. Ms. Konpal pointed out certain sensitive issues regarding gender inequality, the functioning of NGOs, their funding, the different social causes which these NGOs work for, and the challenges which are faced in the effective functioning of the NGOs.
