Jain University – Center for Management Studies, an esteemed wing of The JGI Group, Bangalore conducted a National Theatre Festival “Abhinaya” on February 7, 2010 in Bangalore.
“Abhinaya” is a unique National Level Theatre Festival involving the theatre groups from all over India at an amateur level in Hindi, Kannada & English.
Jain University - Center for Management Studies, felicitated theatre luminaries like Mr. Narasimha Murthy (Registrar, Karnataka Nataka Academy), Ramesh Arvind (cine personality), Mrs. Yamoona Murthy (senior cine & theatre artist), Mr. Hoolishankar (cine& TV - story, sreenplay, Dialogue, Play writer & Director), Mr. Devraj(senior cine personality & theatre artist) were felicitated subsequently. “Abhinaya” was presided by Dr R Chenraj Jain – Chairman The JGI Group.
Entertainment shows were organized on 4th 5th and 6th and the teams that performed were, Rakesh Bedi’s team who enacted a hindi play, ‘Tajmahal Ka Tender’, Laxmi Chandrashekar’s team who enacted an English play, ‘All’s Well’ & Master Hiranaiah’s team who enacted a kannada play, ‘Lanchavathara’. The most influential news to talk about was all the 3 teams which participated achieved the record 3rd win in the last three years
Dr. R Chenraj Jain, Chairman, The JGI Group who spoke on the occasion said that “Glamour is a thought which restores gestures & words, it is sensitively larger, dramatically varied and luminous with new sounds, colours, and themes. ” A film makes a star a theatre’s king. Theatre is a best consign to grow in the future enriching Indian culture.
Yamoona Murthy, senior cine artist & theatre artist said that “Theatre is like a never ending journey. Even in these days and age of complete scientific advancement, an effort made by an educational institution to revive and revitalize this art amongst youngsters is highly commendable.” Mr. Ramesh Arvind, cine personality said that “The world is a stage and we are all enacting our roles in it”. If we work hard enough we would be able to achieve great heights.
Prof. Sundar (theatre personality & professor in Surana College), Dr. Vishal Varanasi( professor Surana College & theatre personality), Mrs. Reema Lagoo (Hindi TV and cine artist), Bhargavai Narayan (senior theatre & Cine artist), R T Ramaa (retired professor from Drama and Music Department, Bangalore City & cine artist) were the immensely talented panel of judges.
“Abhinaya” showcased the creative energy of a vibrant India that transcends geographic and linguistic definitions. It was a platform for young participants to exhibit crucial interpersonal & team skills, talent & creativity. It was a celebration of aesthetics and performance.
Theatre plays a pivotal role in education & Abhinaya’s main aim was to sensitize actors and audiences to issues, ideas and perspectives using the medium of theatre. Theatre in management training is a concept fast gaining credence all over the world and Abhinaya is at the forefront of this trend in India.
More than 40 teams participated from Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkotta, and Karnataka in all the 3 categories which included English, Hindi & Kannada.
The team from S.S.M.R.V College bagged the award at the finals for the 3rd consecutive year & has created a hatrick by doing so…
